Frank Zappa at The Mike Douglas Show (November 1976). Hosted by Mike Douglas with Jimmie Walker. Mr. Zappa perform "Black Napkins" from "Zoot Allures" album (he plays in the studio with the show band). Please note that the quality of this video isn't that great. So in order to keep the continuity I had to cut several seconds. For any incorrect information, please notify me. enjoy

Oct 10, 2008 - Nice pickup '1j2n3j4'. I cuaght that pre-VH pluckin too. I think he was just playin w/Mike. He couldn't wait to get up and play. God bless MD for having him on the show. Did you catch Jimmy Walker pickin up his hip vibes? I think would've rather hung with him.

Oct 17, 2008 - He referred to Bulgarian bagpipe guitar in a Guitar Player Interview, and I thought it was wack, but then I finally heard some Bulgarian Bagpipe music and by golly, that's what it sounds like.

Oct 18, 2008 - Wow that sounded soooo nice. I completely LOVE that chord progression! It brought me back to the 70s, I felt all groovy and chilled....I actually like his choice of notes in this song, which is surprising, because I don't like many of Frank's solos....I'm more into people like Gilmour or Steve Rothery (Marillion)....

Oct 19, 2008 - Those whole step runs at the end, and the use of ragas and other Indian forms - it's a tribute to the Beatles. Listen again.

Oct 25, 2008 - Lather. It contains four eventual single albums. With slightly diff variations of which became Sheik Yerbouti, Live In New York, Orchestral Favorites, and Sleep Dirt. CkerCky is absolutely correct WJ is very much in the same vain.

Oct 29, 2008 - at about the same time as this, the Pistols were rippin' the shit outta Bill Grundy on a TV show in london, England. It's a shame that Frank had a pony tail and was shaking hands with Kenny Rogers.

Nov 12, 2008 - Actually i believe the 4 it turned into were Zappa in New York, Orchestral Favorites, Sleep Dirt, and Studio Tan.
Reptilicus1 Says:
Nov 12, 2008 - Upon further review you are correct. The liner notes say, "Principally, turned into...ZiNY, OF, SD,and ST". I was surprised to find no mention of SYB, even though there are seven tracks of it on Lather. Oh, well? Still a fine addition to any Zappa collection. Thanks for the addendum/correction.
Reptilicus1 Says:
Nov 13, 2008 - Sorry FZB, two tracks. Trying To Grow an Chin and Broken Hearts... talking about Frank just gets me excited.
